Initially, I thought Blog Catalog is just a normal social blog directory on the internet. Yet after I joined this site, I discover that it does more.
You can promote your blog by adding your blog to the category of your choice, participate in forum discussions with fellow bloggers, join neighbourhoods of bloggers whom share the same interests as you.
It also has its own ranking score system (based on a total of 100 pts) that uses a special formula to analyze your hits, views, comments, neighborhood members. The higher your score, the better your blog placement on Blog Directory & Search Results.
To make things better, you can create your own Blog Catalog widget and display on your blog so that you can promote your neighbourhood, display your recent visitors or even recent discussions.
